Cuban Medical Brigade provides healthcare in Zimbabwe

Harare, March 16, 2025 - The Cuban Medical Brigade in Zimbabwe held a Health Fair today to serve dozens of children and patients in need in the cities of Bulawayo and Chitungwiza.

At the Bulawayo hospital, about 400 kilometers southwest of this capital, doctors from various specialties treated nearly 80 residents suffering from high blood pressure, heart disease, and the human immunodeficiency virus, among other ailments.

Dr. Arian Gaulhiac stated that the brigade provides health care to the most needy, with the available resources, striving to provide excellent service, seeking a better quality of life.

"We are doing what the Revolution taught us with the Cuban School of Medicine," the maxillofacial surgeon stated when speaking of the island's aid to African nations, particularly Zimbabwe.

The second part of the contingent, comprised of specialists in gynecology, pediatrics, internal medicine, oncology, and psychiatry, traveled to Eyecourt, in coordination with Chitungwiza Hospital, 25 kilometers from Harare, to provide consultations and lectures to more than 100 Zimbabweans, including 81 minors.

Respiratory tract and sexually transmitted infections, heart disease, and high blood pressure were the main cases detected by specialists at the Eyecourt school, home to the makeshift hospital.

The 14th Cuban Medical Brigade considered the new Health Fair a fruitful day of exchange with the people of this African nation, based on solidarity and the principles taught by the Historical Leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro.
