Within the framework of the attendance of a Cuban delegation at the Afro-Caribbean Trade and Investment Forum 2022, held in Barbados on September 1 and 2, the Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz, held a meeting with the Cuban aid workers who work in Barbados, the Cuban residents, the representatives of solidarity and those of the Barbadians who have graduated in Cuba, which was an appropriate moment to share elements on the national news, the activities that these groups carry out in Barbados and the reinforcement of the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States against our country.
The event was chaired by Minister Malmierca and his delegation, made up of the Director of Trade Policy for Latin America and the Caribbean of MINCEX, Janet Fernández, the Director of Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean of the Foreign Ministry, Gustavo Véliz and Ambassador of Cuba in Barbados, Sergio Jorge Pastrana.
The event was accompanied in the chair by the Honorable Deputy Trevor Prescod, special envoy in the office of the Prime Minister for pan-Africanism and reparations for the crime of slavery, and H.E. Ambassador David Comissiong, Ambassador of Barbados to the Caribbean, who In addition to their status as representatives of the government and people of Barbados, are loyal friends of Cuba. Also present were the President of the Barbados-Cuba Friendship Association and Secretary of the Caribbean Movement for Peace and Integration, David Denny, and Lalu Hanuman, representative of the Palestinian people in Barbados. The Chargé d'Affaires of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Barbados, Ambassador Martha Ortega, also attended.
On behalf of medics and sport coaches, Dr. Adrian Rojas Rodríguez spoke for the medical brigade, and José Hernández Murray for the CUBADEPORTES brigade. Both brigade chiefs greeted the presence of the Cuban delegation and the invited personalities.
After the greetings and presentations, there was a general exchange in which all those attending the meeting fraternized, ratifying the support for the solidarity work and the close cooperation between both countries and peoples, which marks more than 20 years of uninterrupted solidarity work. and cooperation, an aspect that was especially highlighted in the framework of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and other CARICOM states, which will be held soon in the month of December in Barbados.
