The Deputy Minister of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Finance, Mr. Harald Waiglein received the ministerial delegation, composed of the Cuban Deputy Ministers of Trade and Investment, Ileana Núñez Mordoche; Finance and Prices, Félix Martínez Suárez; and the Central Bank of Cuba (BCC, by its Spanish initials), Arnaldo Alayón Bazo.
Both parties reviewed the state of bilateral economic, commercial, and financial relations and expressed their willingness to expand these ties.
The Deputy Minister Núñez Mordoche expressed Cuba´s interest in diversifying its international economic relations and attracting foreign capital. Likewise, she referred to the diverse Portfolio of Foreign Investment Opportunities in Cuba.
The Vice-president of the BCC, Mr. Alayón Bazo, referred to the worsening and extraterritorial nature of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the Government of the United States of America against Cuba, which has caused serious damages to the economy of the country, particularly, to the commercial activities of domestic companies and banks in their links with international banking.
The Austrian Deputy Minister Mr. Harald Waiglein thanked the Cuban delegation for their visit, highlighted the interest of Austrian businessmen in the Cuban market, and referred to the possibilities of strengthening bilateral economic ties.
