Cuban President sent message of condolences to Liberian counterpart for human losses due to landslide.

Monrovia, May 15, 2020 - The President of the Republic of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez sent a message of condolence to the President of the Republic of Liberia, His Excellency George Manneh Weah, on the occasion of the human losses caused by the landslide in a region of the West African country.

The message from the Cuban President to his Liberian counterpart extends condolences also to the families of the victims.

The incident took place when people visited a mine during the night to illegally excavate the gravel believed to contain gold. 

As rescuers search for survivors, authorities fear that some 50 people may have died following the incident in Grand Cape Mount County.
