Vienna, September 24. With the special participation of Cuban residents alongside Austrians and diplomatic representatives accredited in Austria, one of the galas of the Long Nights of Interculturality, which take place every year at Vienna City Hall, was held yesterday.
Cuban resident Luis Estévez and his project “Ritmo Tropical” showed attendees a selection of Cuban dances and rhythms, while promoting initiatives aimed at training those interested in mastering Cuban dance techniques.
The highlight of his performance was the number “El Pilón,” an icon of Cuban rhythm that has been performed by the most prestigious contemporary dance companies, as well as various folk dance groups.
For almost 10 years, this enthusiastic Cuban dancer and choreographer, teacher and instructor of salsa, Zumba, and other rhythms, has promoted the teaching and passion for Latin rhythms, especially Cuban ones, in Austria. Under his tutelage, people of different generations and backgrounds living in Austria have learned to dance the various rhythms that make up the Cuban musical spectrum and, most importantly, have developed a love for Cuba in their hearts.
The leading role played by Cubans in this edition of the Long Nights of Interculturality is part of an initiative designed and organized by the Cuban Embassy in Austria, including its Consular Office, on the occasion of Cuban Culture Day, which began recently and will conclude on October 20.
