Beirut, November 13, 2021. In the historic city of Tyre in southern Lebanon, the regional meeting of Cubans residing in that area of the country took place. The meeting was also attended by Lebanese and Palestinian graduates in Cuba and 12 young Palestinians who will soon travel to Cuba to study medicine, thanks to scholarships granted by the Cuban government.
The person in charge of consular affairs at the Embassy, Odalys Capote, made a presentation on consular issues of major interest and impact for the Cuban community and presented a summary of the activities carried out with Cubans in the last two years. The exchange was conducive to clarify doubts and concerns of Cuban residents.
For his part, Ambassador Alexander Pellicer stressed the importance of this type of meeting, which unfortunately had been suspended in the last two years due to the pandemic. The Cuban diplomat updated the participants on the situation in Cuba and the reopening of the country on November 15 as a sign of the control of the pandemic and the beginning of the necessary economic recovery.
Pellicer also denounced the interference plans of the U.S., which through its employees in Cuba intends to hinder the return to normality of the country and hinder the economic recovery. The ambassador called on those present to defend Cuba in the new trench that social networks have become, and said that the Cuban people and its leadership were calm and serene but alert.
The meeting showed the deep love and respect of Cubans and Cuban graduates for the largest of the Antilles and the rejection of the policy of blockade and economic asphyxiation imposed by Washington on the island for more than 60 years and the destabilizing plans of Washington and the counterrevolution.
