Cubans in Lebanon and their families pays homage to Jose Martí

28th January, 2018. Beirut. The 165th Anniversary of the birth of Cuban National Hero José Martí was celebrated at a meeting of Cubans residents in Lebanon and their families at the Cuban Embassy in Beirut.

Despite the persistent rain and cold, several dozen of Cubans and Lebanese came to the headquarters of the Cuban Legation to remember the Apostle. The new Ambassador of the island, Miguel Porto Parga, started the tribute by enhancing the symbolism of Martí as a point of unity and reunion of the Cubans in these latitudes and the consolidation of their roots.

During the meeting also the Consul Raúl Madrigal explained the details of the new immigration measures recently implemented by the Government of Cuba, especially the new procedure to obtain the Cuban citizenship, subject of great interest to the audience.

With Cuban music, dance, dominoes and mojitos, the attendees enjoyed the rest of the evening challenging the winter conditions and reaffirming the feelings of love for the Homeland.
