Cubans, Palestinians and Lebanese gathered in Beirut to pay tribute to the National Hero of the Island.

The evening, dedicated to celebrate the 170th anniversary of the birth of the Latin American hero José Martí, was held at the headquarters of the Cuban diplomatic mission in Lebanon and was chaired by Ambassador Jorge León Cruz.

The diplomat updated those present on the state of relations between Cuba and the U.S., marked by the policy of "maximum pressure" implemented by Donald Trump and continued by Joe Biden.

León underscored Havana's position that it considers positive, but insufficient, some few measures taken by Biden with regard to the island, since the tightening of the blockade, the pressures and the unjust inclusion of Cuba in the spurious list of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism continue.

Cuban diplomat Mayra Nieves Escobar also reviewed the life of José Martí, eminent writer, journalist, thinker and politician, capable of giving a deep sense of independence and anti-imperialism to the war he organized, a historical influence that made viable the triumph of January 1959 and its resistance until today.

In the activity there was room for heartfelt expressions of love for Cuban culture and Martí's cultural work.

Sisters Jana and Julia declaimed with deep emotion the verses "Cultivo una Rosa" and "Yo soy un hombre sincero" (I am a sincere man), while Cuban music enlivened the day.

The Cuban embassy took advantage of this first meeting between Cubans living in Lebanon, the Solidarity Committee and Palestinian and Lebanese friends, many of them graduates of the Island, to also celebrate the 64th anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution and to deliver to several children, young people and adults their Certificates of Granting of Cuban nationality.

In the unitary and anti-imperialist spirit of José Martí, the eternal solidarity of the Arab peoples with Cuba and the universal imprint of Martí's thought were endorsed.
