Cuba's Collaboration Recognized at University Graduation Ceremony with Zimbabwe's President in Attendance

Bindura, Zimbabwe, October 31, 2025 – Cuba's collaboration in the training of Zimbabwean professionals was recognized today during the 24th Graduation Ceremony of Bindura University of Education and Sciences (BUSE), in the presence of the President and Rector, the Honorable Dr. Emerson D. Mnangagwa.

 

Some two thousand students graduated from various faculties of the prestigious institution, whose origins lie in the educational assistance provided by the Caribbean nation since the late 1980s, following Zimbabwe's independence.

 

Addressing those present at the significant jubilee ceremony, marking the University's 25th anniversary, Vice-Chancellor Professor Eddie Mwenje stated that BUSE's "journey" began with the teacher training program between Zimbabwe and Cuba.

 

History is part of the strategic need to prepare science professionals, Mwenje emphasized to thousands of attendees at the event in this city, about 90 kilometers northeast of the capital Harare.

 

The University of Zimbabwe (BUSE) is part of the cooperation program between Zimbabwe and Cuba, and several Cuban professors attended the graduation ceremony, along with the Minister-Counselor of the Cuban Embassy, ​​Luis Enrique González Acosta.

 

President Mnangagwa endorsed the university's graduation, which has become one of the most important research centers in the African nation, and participated in the inauguration of new computer and optometry equipment plants at its Industrial Park.
