Cuba's environmental protection highlighted in Vienna
Vienna, June 5, 2023. As part of the program of activities carried out by the Austria-Cuba Friendship Association (ÖKG), and in celebration of World Environment Day, a discussion was held at the headquarters of the Association on environmental protection in Cuba.
In the presence of members of the ÖKG and the Austrian youth in solidarity with Cuba, the First Secretary of the Embassy, Reinier Travieso, gave an overview of the actions carried out in the country for environmental care, as well as the achievements in the preservation of natural heritage and biodiversity.
During the debate, topics such as the sustainable management of resources, food security, climate change and its confrontation, the challenges that the country faces today in areas such as agriculture, and the productive chain of the agri-food industry were discussed.
Those present acknowledged Cuba's achievements despite the unjust and criminal economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the U.S. government, the main obstacle to the country's sustainable development.
