Cultural exhibition at the University of the West Indies

Port of Spain, June 28, 2024. The Embassy of Cuba participated this morning in the Showcase 2024 Program, organized by the Faculty of Humanities and Education of the University of the West Indies (UWI), St. Augustine Campus. 

The activity was chaired by the Dean of the Faculty, Elizabeth Walcott-Hackshaw and Dr. Rawatee Maharaj-Sharma, Director of the School of Education. The exhibition showcased part of the Cuban cultural heritage through silkscreen prints, books and handicrafts.  

The event served to showcase the cultural diversity of the region. As part of the event's program, the work of several teachers dedicated to teaching languages was also recognized.

Tribute was paid to Dr. Lancelot Cowie, former Ambassador to Havana, Honorary Professor attached to the Latin American Program of the Institute of International Relations and the School of Social Sciences, who passed away on June 24.
