Danish Solidarity donates funds for the recovery of the damages caused by Hurricane Irma in Cuba

Members of the Danish solidarity groups handed over a symbolic donation check toga the Embassy of Cuba in Denmark on December 22, which reflects the total value they will send to Cuba for contributing to the recovery process of the damages caused by Hurricane Irma. Representatives of the Danish-Cuban Association of Friendship, the "Patria Grande" group and solidary friends from the Danish city of Roskilde gathered to hand over the check totaling 40 thousand Danish crowns (approximately USD 6350 ) to the Cuban Ambassador in that country, Yiliam Gómez Sardiñas.

The president of the Danish-Cuban Association of Friendship, Sven-Erik Simonsen, expressed with pride that these funds are the result of solidarity contributions from the Danes in support of the efforts made by the Cuban government and people to recover from the damages caused by this violent natural phenomenon that devastated almost the entire national territory. Likewise, he acknowledged in this framework the solidarity aid that Cuba has given, despite the negative effects it suffered due to this intense hurricane, to other Caribbean islands that were also hit.

The Cuban diplomat thanked the gesture of solidarity towards her country and pointed out that these solidarity funds will support the efforts of recovery that are currently carried out on the Island. In addition, she highlighted the constant contribution of solidarity friends in Denmark and their broad actions in favor of the Cuban Revolution. (Embacuba Dinamarca)
