Jakarta, October 20, 2018. The Embassy of Cuba celebrated today the National Culture Day coinciding with the closing of the Jakarta Cuban Cinema Exhibition 2018, Cuban Revolution: 60 years of action without cut! that took place during the last 5 days in this capital, in collaboration with the cultural organization [ESAS] Empu Sendok Arts Station. Present at the ceremony were members of the Diplomatic Corps, the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, friends of the Embassy and representatives of the press that covered the celebration.
Ambassador Nirsia Castro Guevara spoke to those present, explaining the reasons for the celebration of the anniversary and the importance for Cubans of the National Anthem for its high cultural value, its marked patriotic nature and the symbolism it has represented for the nation since the beginning of the independence struggles 150 years ago. After toasting the traditional Cuban cocktail Cubalibre, prepared for the special occasion, two classic Cuban film shorts were screened and then the feature film "El Benny", the last of the productions shown in the framework of the Film Exhibition.
