Namibia, November 19th, 2021- Ambassador Jerobean Shaanika, Director General of Multilateral Affairs and Cooperation of the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation of Namibia, received today Aldo Luis Fuentes Acosta, Chargé d'Affaires a.i. from the Embassy of Cuba.
In the fraternal meeting, both exchanged on current regional issues.
Similarly, Fuentes updated the experienced Namibian diplomat on the epidemiological situation in Cuba, the opening of the island's borders to international tourism and the restart of the school year.
The Chargé d'Affaires a.i. also explained the effects caused to the Cuban population by the US blockade, reinforced with 243 measures by the Donald Trump government, which the current Administration maintains in force. The Cuban diplomat thanked Namibia for its historical support to Cuba, in its fight against this hostile US policy.
Ambassador Shaanika reiterated his country's condemnation of the unilateral and coercive measures applied against Cuba, while he celebrated the country's achievements in controlling and fighting Covid-19, despite the sanctions.
