The Cuban writers and artists who are members of UNEAC strongly condemn the military aggression by the United States against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. There have been reports since the early hours of today of bombings and military actions against Caracas and other localities in the country, which represent serious threats to the stability of Our America.
In recent weeks, the US government had increased its maritime and air blockade against the Caribbean nation as part of "Operation Southern Spear," designed under the guise of fighting drug trafficking. But the real objective was publicly acknowledged by President Donald Trump when he pointed out the imperial interest in seizing Venezuela’s oil and land.
These violent actions against the brotherly Venezuelan people flagrantly violate international law and the Charter of the United Nations. The United States wants to impose by force the Monroe Doctrine and undermine the postulates assumed in the Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace, by the 33 member countries of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States.
We call on the world intelligentsia to denounce the criminal military aggression ordered by the US government against Venezuela.
We call for the well-being of our nations to prevail, from art, creation and the culture of peace.
Let us join in solidarity with the homeland of Simón Bolívar and unite in calling for respect for the lives of our Venezuelan brothers, for self-determination and the sovereignty of our peoples.
Havana, 3 January 2026.
