The Deputy Director of the National Center for Minimum Access Surgery visits Vienna to participate in the 16th World Congress of the International Society for Diseases of the Esophagus.

Doctor Rosalba Roque González, Deputy Director of the National Center for Minimum Access Surgery of the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP by its Spanish acronym) will visit the Austrian capital on the occasion of her participation in the 16th World Congress of the International Society for Diseases of the Esophagus which will be held from 16 to 19 September, 2018 at the headquarters of the prestigious University of Vienna.

The invitation extended by the International Society for Esophagus Diseases to Cuba to participate in this Congress, is a symbol of international recognition for the development of medical services on the Island and the high level of training of our doctors and other health specialists.

Despite the extremely limited resources and the impact of economic, financial and commercial sanctions imposed by the United States, Cuba has managed to universalize access to high quality medical services; maintain a health system with rates comparable to developed countries; and promote effective South-South cooperation, making available our health system to the peoples of the developing countries.

The generous spirit of Cuba, its solidarity and the international cooperation in the field of health, have been repeatedly highlighted by specialized international organizations, such as the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the World Health Organization (WHO).
