Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and Cuban ambassador assess bilateral relations

The Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in Turkmenistan, Alfredo Nieves Portuondo, held a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of this Central Asian nation, Berdiniyaz Matiyev.

During the meeting, the ambassador and the deputy minister ratified the good relationship between Turkmenistan and Cuba.

The meeting between both officials showed the interest of both governments in promoting the Havana - Ashgabat relationship and invigorating all areas of cooperation.

Matiyev and Nieves Portuondo agreed on the will to promote bilateral ties and the level of political dialogue.

The Cuban diplomat appreciated the traditional position of Turkmenistan in support of the resolution of the General Assembly of the United Nations that demands the end of the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States against the island.

The ambassador starts a visit to Turkmenistan where he will hold official talks with senior leaders and develop a broad work program.

Turkmenistan is a country located in Central Asia that borders the northwest with Kazakhstan, the north and northeast with Uzbekistan, the southwest with Iran, the southeast with Afghanistan and the west with the Caspian Sea. Its capital and most populated city is Ashgabat.
