The Cuban ambassador to Turkmenistan, Alfredo Nieves Portuondo, gave an interview to the television channel "Turkmenistan" in which he discussed the economic blockade against Cuba and bilateral relations.

The diplomat to a TV question highlighted Cuba's thanks to the people of Turkmenistan for their support in the battle against the blockade that the United States applies for nearly six decades.

Nieves Portuondo said that the blockade imposed against Cuba continues to represent a brake for the development of all the potential of the economy of the Island.

The rector of the Turkmenistan State University, Bayramgul Orazdurdiyeva, showed interest in collaborating with Cuban institutions during a meeting with the Cuban ambassador to this Central Asian nation, Alfredo Nieves Portuondo.

The work meeting held at the university headquarters, allowed, according to the Cuban diplomat, to evaluate collaborative projects and strengthen the relations of friendship between the two nations.

During the work visit to Turkmenistan, the Cuban ambassador, Alfredo Nieves Portuondo, toured the Olympic Village in Ashgabat, capital of the country, where the works built for the V Asian Games Under Roof and Martial Arts, held in this Central Asian nation, were valued.

Maksat Hojagulyyev, manager of the complex, explained to the visitors that the Villa has 30 buildings, including 15 competition stages.

The First Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkmenistan, Vepa Hajiyev, received at the headquarters of the Foreign Ministry the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba, Alfredo Nieves Portuondo, who thanked the support of this Central Asian nation for the resolution of the Island against the US blockade.

Also, the Turkmen vice chancellor reiterated his nation's position in this matter and valued cooperation in the multilateral sphere as very important.
