Deputy Minister for Legal Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign of Liberia receives Charge d'Affairs of Cuba.

Cuba's Chargé d'affaires, Yordenis Despaigne Vera, paid a courtesy call to the Deputy Minister for Legal Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Liberia (MOFA), Ms. Deweh E. Gray, who received him at her office.

During the meeting, the Cuban diplomat highlighted the close ties of brotherhood and solidarity between Cuba and African nations, and commented on some examples of cooperation and mutual support, particularly on issues of health, education and the fight against the USA blockade against the island. In that sense, he once again thanked the Liberian government for its support of Cuba in the UNGA vote against the blockade. He also explained current Cuban issues and called for the strengthening of Cuba-Liberia bilateral relations and the possibility of establishing direct links between the Office for Legal Affairs of the Liberian chancellery and its counterpart in Cuba.

For her part, the Liberian Vice Minister praised the Cuban people's resistance to the economic sanctions they still face and the achievements of Cuba in various sectors, particularly in health, education and security. He thanked the island for its support to Liberia during the Ebola outbreak and the training of human resources, as well as the return of the Cuban Embassy to Monrovia. The latter considered it very positive to further strengthen the bonds of friendship and collaboration between both governments and peoples.

The meeting made it possible to confirm the good state of Cuba-Liberia relations and the desire to increase bilateral exchange for the benefit of both nations.
