Deputy Prime Minister received the Cuban Ambassador

Nassau, March 20, 2024. The Deputy Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas and Minister of Tourism, Aviation and Investment, Honorable Isaac Chester Cooper, received the Cuban Ambassador Julio César González Marchante at the Ministry of Tourism.

In the cordial meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister thanked the official invitations that the Cuban diplomat delivered for his participation to the 69th Meeting of the Regional Commission for the Americas of the World Tourism Organization and the International Tourism Fair FITCuba 2024, events to be held between April 29 and May 5, in Cuba, and assured that he would attend such an important event, with both parties agreeing that the occasion would serve to exchange experiences and continue developing this vital tourism sector.

Among other issues, the multi-destination and marinas were commented like possible areas to develop. On the other hand, the Cuban diplomat thanked the Bahamas for its support in the battle to eliminate the blockade imposed on the Cuban people, that greatly affects the national economy and this important tourism industry, which Mr. Cooper ratified will continue to be the position to follow.

Attending the meeting Cecilia Strachan and Lisa Anderson, permanent secretary and permanent undersecretary respectively of the Ministry of Tourism, Aviation and Investment, and on the Cuban side, Luis Armando Pérez Cobas, Director of the Havanatur  Bahamas Ltd.
