Deputy Prime Ministers of Cuba and Ethiopia visit the Science Museum in Addis Ababa

Addis Ababa, July 28, 2025.- As part of the side events held in the context of the Second Stocktaking Moment of the United Nations Food Systems Summit (UNFSS+4), the Deputy Prime Ministers of Cuba, Jorge Luis Tapia Fonseca, and Ethiopia, Temesgen Tiruneh, paid a joint visit to the Ethiopia Museum of Science, located in the capital, Addis Ababa.

During the tour of this iconic venue, both officials explored a broad exhibition dedicated to technological innovation, scientific knowledge, and sustainable development. The museum, considered one of the most modern in Africa, provides a comprehensive overview of the country's major advances in strategic sectors such as renewable energy, smart agriculture, biotechnology, digital health, and industrial transformation.

The visit allowed the Cuban delegation to gain first-hand insight into various digital and scientific solutions Ethiopia is promoting as part of its national development agenda, as well as innovation models tailored to local conditions and priorities.

The Cuban Deputy Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for Ethiopia's commitment to knowledge and technology as pillars of progress. Both sides agreed on the need to continue fostering exchanges in areas such as science education, applied innovation, and academic collaboration, with a view to strengthening bilateral ties and addressing shared challenges of the Global South.

The visit to the Museum of Science reaffirmed the mutual interest of Cuba and Ethiopia in building bridges of cooperation on key issues for the future, in an environment that promotes dialogue between science and human development.
