The headquarters of the Cuban diplomatic mission opened its doors to young Kolubah Zeyzey and Daniel Ankrah, deputy editor and producer respectively, of the Liberia Broadcasting System state broadcaster. They were received by the Charge d'Affaires Yordenis Despaigne Vera and Second Secretary Carmen Maury. The meeting is part of the actions of Cuban diplomatic mission to diversify and deepen relations with the Liberian media press and denounce the damages caused by the United States blockade against Cuba.
During the meeting the visitors inquired about Cuba's relations with the United States since the restoration of diplomatic relations between the two governments and after Obama's visit in March. Cuban hosts referred to the persistence of the blockade despite the restoration. They stressed the affectations that in statistical terms, this policy generates for normal economic and social development of the Greater Antilles, perceptible in key areas such as education, agriculture and trade just to mention some examples.
They also mentioned the extraterritorial scope of the blockade is a systematic persecution and payment of exorbitant fines by banks and companies that violate this policy and maintain links with Cuba. They shared experiences and expressions of solidarity with Cuba, as part of the International Campaign against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the US government against Cuba, which is motive of mobilization and common cause for international public opinion.
Founded in 1960, Liberia Broadcasting System is the only network of radio and television broadcasting of state property. Radio broadcasts, broadcast by 99.9 FM frequency, have nationwide audience of all ages.
