Nassau, December 19. The Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, Jerusa Alí, received the Cuban Ambassador Julio César González Marchante, at the headquarters of that entity, a cordial meeting in which they positively valued the state of bilateral relations and the results achieved this year.
The high-level visits made to the respective countries were highlighted, in particular that of Prime Minister Philip Davis for the G77 plus China Summit held in Havana, that of Vice Prime Minister Inés María Chapman for the 50th Anniversary of the Independence of the Bahamas; as well as the participation of Bahamian leaders in events and other meetings organized during the Cuban presidency of the G77 in that framework.
The progress achieved by Cuban collaboration in the country in education and health was also highly valued.
At the same time, other areas of mutual interest were examined that will allow us to strengthen the joint work we do regarding migration, combating crimes such as illegal trafficking of drugs, weapons and people, and illicit fishing. And other possible fields were addressed to increase cooperation, such as the environment.
Both parties agreed to reiterate their rejection of the blockade policy applied against the Cuban people for more than six decades and their willingness to continue working until its elimination.
Accompanying the Director General were Deputy Director General Keva Bain; the Head of the Caribbean region of the Foreign Ministry Alexavia Dean and the Officer of the Royal Bahamas Defense Forces, Counselor and Prosecutor L.D.Alderley.
