Director of the National Library Receives Cuban Ambassador

Dr. Christian Jallud, Director of the National Library of Liberia, received the Cuban Ambassador, Dr. Indira López Arguelles, at the institution’s premises.

Mr. Jallud explained to the Ambassador that the library consists of several sections—including areas for children, youth, and adults—with limited capacity, as it is housed in the oldest heritage building in Liberia, located in the historic district of Monrovia.

Mr. Jallud outlined the various contributions the library receives and expressed his interest in establishing exchanges with similar institutions in Cuba.

For her part, the Cuban Ambassador, Dr. Indira López Arguelles, greeted the staff present, and they identified an area where Cuban books could be placed in the future. The Ambassador briefly explained to the staff the significance of the month of October in Cuban history and culture, and highlighted the challenges faced by education and cultural workers in Cuba due to the severe impact of the genocidal blockade against the country.
