Documentary “Tarea vida” was presented in Slovenia

Ljubljana, October 9. In a collaboration between the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and the Cuban Embassy in that country, the documentary “Tarea vida” (Life's Work) was screened at the Kinoteka in Ljubljana, narrating the island's actions in its fight against climate change.

In a packed theater, and in the presence of Slovenian ministry officials, the audience learned about Cuba's fight against climate change, the impact of the blockade against the country, and the Cuban people's ability to fight for their sovereignty and survival in the face of climate phenomena and the sanctions imposed on them.

In his introductory remarks, Cuban Ambassador Pablo Berti Oliva highlighted the importance of the global fight against climate change and the work carried out by Cuba in the face of this scourge. He emphasized that the very name of the government program reflected its importance for the island, as our lives depended on it, compounded by the impact of the blockade.

Dr. Helen Yiffe, producer of the documentary, responded from the United Kingdom to questions from the Slovenian audience. Highlighting Cuba's work on this issue, she denounced the impact of the blockade and recalled the monumental speech given by the Commander-in-Chief at the Earth Summit in 1993.

After the screening of the film and the question-and-answer session, the audience mingled with the Ambassador and Slovenian officials and enjoyed Cuban music and drinks.

The screening of this documentary as part of Latin American Days 2025 in Slovenia is part of the Cuban Embassy in Austria's Cuban culture day.
