Port of Spain, January 28th, 2022. In a simple and solemn act, the Electoral Commission of Circumscription (CEC) No.30 of the Embassy of Cuba in Trinidad and Tobago was constituted today; occasion that coincided with the day of celebration of the National Hero José Martí on the 169th anniversary of his birth. After the intonation of the notes of the National Anthem, Counselor Patricia Pita Calderón read the oath that will accompany all the members of the Commission during the process of consultation and popular referendum of the new Family Code. Subsequently, the members of the Commission took possession and signed the oath. The Commission is chaired by Counselor Patricia Pita Calderón, Dr. Orlando Lazaro Díaz Gómez, Coordinator of the Cuban Medical Brigade (BMC) serving in Trinidad and Tobago as Secretary, and Arturo Enrique Méndez López, Embassy official as Member. . The popular consultation of the Family Code will take place from February 1 to April 30 and the vote for its approval is scheduled for September 2022. The new Family Code will be one more edge of the essence of José Martí's idea of the Republic: "With everyone and for the good of all."
