The Embassy of Cuba in Austria congratulates the Communist Party of Austria (KPÖ, by the German initials) on the occasion of the centenary of its foundation on the 3 November 1918.
The Embassy was represented by some of its members who participated, as international guest delegation, in the activities which took place on the 3 November 2018 to commemorate this significant date. The Chairman of this political force, Mirko Messner stressed the KPÖ´s long history of antifascist and anti-imperialist struggle in pursuit of the social equality and international solidarity.
The Communist Party of Austria is one of the oldest communist parties in the world. It played a crucial role in the Austrian resistance to Nazism and fascism.
Every year Cuba participates in the Press Festival of this party, the “Volksstimme Fest” (voice of the people), one of the most important events of the European left.
