Embassy of Cuba in Ethiopia hosts the celebrations for the 70th anniversary of the assaults on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks

Addis Ababa, July 26, 2023. Members of the diplomatic mission together with the Cuban-Ethiopian friendship association, the Cuban medical brigade, Ethiopian graduates in our country, friends of the Venezuelan embassy and Cuban residents, recalled the events of the historic deed of July 26th, 1953.

The central words of the event were in charge of the Chargé d'Affaires a.i, Natalys Dinza and the president of the Association of Friendship between the Peoples of Ethiopia and Cuba, Abebe Ayele.

The Chargé d'Affaires a.i in her opening remarks thanked those present for each year accompanying the diplomatic mission in the celebrations of the Day of National Rebellion, with the conviction that this date is an essential reference to fight necessary battles for the good of Cuba. Natalys denounced the permanence of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the government of the United States on Cuba and thanked the members of the Friendship Association for their constant support in demanding the end of this hostile policy against the Caribbean island.

Abebe Ayele, president of the Friendship Association, said in his speech that one cannot remember or narrate the events that occurred in 1953 without thinking of the historical leader Fidel Castro, "the father of millions of children from Cuba, Africa and Asia, but above all from Ethiopia." Abebe, on behalf of the rest of the Ethiopian Cubans, reaffirmed his support for the Cuban people and on this he said "we will continue to be faithful to the Cuban people maintaining the relationship between our peoples that is confirmed every year when commemorating July 26th."
