Ottawa, November 26, 2018.- The Embassy of Cuba in Ottawa and its Consulate General in Montreal payed tribute to the memory and legacy of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro on the second anniversary of his passing away.
The commemoration ceremony included the screening of the documentary film ´Castro in the Eyes of His Loved Ones´ produced by Radio Canada International in 2015, in which people very close to the leader of the Cuban Revolution shared their memories with such a great human being and statesman.
Special guests were Jean Pelletier (Senior Director of Information, News and Documentaries at RCI), Michel Cormier (former Director of Information at RCI), Christine Campestre (Production Coordinator), and Martín Movilla (journalist), who had the opportunity to talk about their experiences during the making of the documentary in Cuba and also exchange some views with attendees.
In her remarks, Ambassador Josefina Vidal recalled Fidel´s undisputed legacy and referred to his historic bonds with Canada, in particular, with Radio Canada.
Also attending the event were representatives of the diplomatic corps, members of the Solidarity with Cuba groups, Cuban residents in Canada, as well as staff from the Embassy and Consulate General in Montreal.
