Vienna, June 7, 2021. The Embassy of Cuba in Austria participated in the premiere of the documentary “Epicentro”, directed by Hubert Sauper, renowned Austrian director, nominated for an Oscar and winner of several awards in the cinematographic field.
"Epicenter", winner of the Jury Award for Best Documentary at the Sundance Film Festival, addresses the issue of political manipulation of the United States through film. Take the Maine explosion as an example to show the methods used by this country to pursue its political and economic interests. It also shows the resistance of the Cuban people to the difficulties caused by the imposition of the blockade against Cuba. Its protagonists are children, reflecting that the anti-imperialist spirit of the Cuban people has a spontaneous and natural character.
The Ambassador of Cuba and the director Sauper made the presentation of the documentary in the famous Viennese cinema “Stadtkino”. At the end of the screening, a dialogue was developed with the audience, where the director recalled his stay in Cuba for almost 4 years, which he said was a very positive experience.
The documentary will be in the cinemas of Austria until the end of the summer.
