Addis Ababa, December 13, 2025.- At the invitation of Ambassador Hirut Zemene, Permanent Representative of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the African Union (AU) and the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), women diplomats held a cultural exchange gathering dedicated to the traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony, a symbol of hospitality, dialogue, and the continent’s shared heritage.
The event featured a live demonstration of this ancestral tradition, highlighting the cultural and spiritual values that unite the peoples of Africa, while also fostering a space for reflection, cordiality, and solidarity among women serving in diplomatic roles before African regional organizations.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Ethiopia, Meylin Suarez, participated in the meeting, engaging with attendees and reaffirming Cuba’s commitment to strengthening cooperation ties, cultural respect, and the role of women in diplomacy and international relations.
The activity took place on the eve of the celebrations of Gena (Ethiopian Christmas) and the New Year 2026, further consolidating the bonds of friendship and cooperation among women diplomats accredited in Addis Ababa.
