Ethiopian Minister of Health received the Cuban Ambassador

Addis Abeba, 17 may 2018. The Ambassador of Cuba in Ethiopia, H.E. Ms. Vilma Thomas, was received by the new Minister of Health of Ethiopia, Dr. Amir Aman, after his recent appointment as head of that important Ministry. In the meeting, the representatives of both countries, exchanged about the experiences of the Cuban health system, the bilateral cooperation between Cuba and Ethiopia in the health sector and the work of the Cuban cooperators in Ethiopia.

Dr. Amin expressed the interest to continue expanding and deepening the cooperation in the health sector, as well as to learn from the Cuban experience. The Ambassador reiterated also Cuba's willingness to continue supporting the brother African country to achieve its development goals in the area of ​​health, as well as the firm will of Cuba to continue expanding joint cooperation projects in which both countries have been working in recent months.

At present 22 Cuban medical doctors are working in Ethiopia and young Ethiopians are receiving training in Cuba in various specialties of the health sector. These, together with ongoing research and exchange projects in this field, place this sector as one of the priorities in the relations of collaboration between both countries.
