Toronto, June 2, 2026. The Faculty of Natural Sciences at York University hosted the conference “Solidarity Without Borders,” an event dedicated to Cuba and, in particular, to the achievements of its National Health System. The activity brought together professors, students, members of the Cuban community residing in Toronto, and representatives from various sectors of Canadian society.
Cuba’s Consul General in Toronto, Víctor Manuel García Sánchez, attended the event and conveyed a message of appreciation to the organizers for promoting a space for dialogue and exchange on the reality of Cuba. During his remarks, he highlighted the principal achievements of the Cuban Revolution in the field of public health, internationally recognized for its indicators and for the spirit of solidarity demonstrated by its healthcare professionals. He also explained the impact of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States on the development of the health sector in Cuba.
