Executive Director of the Ministry of Industrialization and Trade of Namibia holds a meeting with Cuban diplomats.

Namibia, November 30th, 2021- H. E. Mr. Sikongo Haihambo, Executive Director of the Ministry of Industrialization and Trade of Namibia, received at the headquarters of that institution Aldo Luis Fuentes Acosta, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. from the Embassy of Cuba, and to Yamila Martínez Abreu, Economic and Commercial Counsellor of that Diplomatic Mission.

During the meeting, the Namibian leader received an update on the epidemiological situation in Cuba and the achievements of the vaccination campaign on the island, based on the three nationally produced vaccines. Fuentes explained that this has allowed the opening of national borders to international tourism and the restart of the academic year.

The Chargé d'Affaires a.i. also denounced the tightening of the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States against Cuba, based on the 243 measures imposed by the administration of Donald Trump, which are still in force. In the same way, he thanked the unwavering support of Namibia to Cuba, in the demands for the unconditional lifting of this genocidal policy.

Haihambo thanked the information provided and reaffirmed the accompaniment of his country to Cuba. Likewise, he highlighted the achievements of Cuban science.

On the other hand, the Economic Counsellor detailed the commercial and cooperation areas where historical bilateral relations can be strengthened.

The Executive Director expressed his satisfaction with the possibilities of expanding ties between the two countries and expressed the commitment to work towards their strengthening.
