Namibia, February 19th, 2021- Erica Shafuda, executive director of the Namibian Ministry of Finance, held a fruitful meeting with Cuban diplomats Aldo Fuentes and Juan Carlos Oliva, Second Secretary and Economic and Commercial Counsellor of the Embassy of Cuba in this African country respectively.
At the meeting, issues of mutual interest were discussed, to strengthen relations between the two countries.
Shafuda, who studied in Cuba, recalled her experiences on the Isle of Youth and at the Enrique José Varona Higher Pedagogical Institute, where she completed a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics. Likewise, she highlighted the role of Cuba in the formation of thousands of young Namibians.
For their part, Cuban diplomats explained the incidence of Covid-19 in the Caribbean country and the effects caused to the Cuban economy, in a context marked by the tightening of the US blockade. They also expressed the gratitude of the Cuban people to Namibia, for the unconditional support against this genocidal policy of the US government.
The also member of the board of the Namibia - Cuba Friendship Association reiterated the solidarity of the Namibian Government and people with Cuba.
The meeting was held in the atmosphere of brotherhood that characterizes the bilateral relations between Cuba and Namibia. Other directors of the local Ministry of Finance also attended.
