The Consul General of Cuba in Toronto, Jorge Yanier Castellanos, together with his Latin American counterparts, participated in the inauguration of the exhibit "The Power of Words: Canadian Solidarity toward the Grandmothers of the Plaza de Mayo", held at the Toronto City Hall.
The meeting was attended by personalities of the government of Ontario, including Mayor Oliva Chaw and City Councillor Alejandra Bravo, as well as by members of the consular corps. The City Councillor met with the consuls general of Latin America and the Caribbean at the end of the opening ceremony.
The exhibition displays a compilation of letters from people living in Canada, especially Argentines, since the beginning of the movement of the Grandmothers of the Plaza de Mayo.
Within the framework of the event, the Consul General of Cuba in Toronto held a meeting with Hector Rombola, representative of the Argentine Network for the Right to Identity Canada/USA, in which they talked about the current work of the organization and its support for the identification of children and grandchildren, as well as about the recognition and admiration of the Cuban people toward the tireless work of the Mothers and Grandmothers of the Plaza de Mayo.
