Nassau, January 30th, 2023. At the same highest level of the welcome that the Henry Reeve Brigade received upon arriving in the Bahamas in January 2022 to support the emergency against COVID-19, was the farewell that the Bahamian authorities from the Ministry of Health offered to the nurses members of this contingent, who for a year collaborated in the sister Caribbean country. Immersed in innumerable praise for the performance of these Cuban professionals, the recognition and gratitude expressed by each of the Bahamian speakers was emotional and distinctive.
The Minister of Health and Welfare, Dr. Michael Darville, the Permanent Secretary, Colin Higgs, the Presidents of the Public Hospitals Authority and the College of Nursing, among other directors and representatives of entities in this sector in the country were present at the activity.
The Bahamian Minister, in a broad speech, conveyed a message of gratitude from Prime Minister Philip Davis for assisting them at the critical moment that the country needed it, despite the scenario that the Cuban people are facing with a world crisis and an intensified blockade.
He reiterated the gratitude of his people and all health institutions for the commendable work carried out and the current commitment to maintain and extend cooperation in this and other sectors.
He personally delivered recognition certificates to each of the nursing collaborators.
The Cuban Ambassador in his speech, among other aspects, reiterated the commitment of the Cuban Government and people to continue strengthening the collaboration between both peoples.
The coordinator of the Nursing Brigade in her speech thanked the health institutions for how much they contributed in their knowledge and practical experience.
The activity, which took place at the Breeze Hotel, which for a year welcomed the Henry Reeve Brigade as a home, closed with a reception that allowed the Minister to talk with each Cuban collaborator, interested in learning about the particularities of their professions and work, with the detail of leaving countless snapshots with each one of them.
