As part of his visit to Toronto, First Deputy Minister Gerardo Peñalver Portal held fruitful meetings with Cuban residents, solidarity groups and the Consulate General's staff.
During the meetings, the Cuban diplomat offered extensive information on current affairs in our country, denounced the constant campaign of disinformation and manipulation of the Cuban reality, as well as the use of social networks by the U.S. government and its agencies of political operators, in order to achieve internal destabilization. At the same time, he thanked those present for their support and the countless signs of solidarity and commitment to the Cuban people, especially for the permanent demand for the elimination of the U.S. blockade against Cuba and the shipment of medical supplies.
The attendees intervened during the meeting to ratify their invariable commitment to the Cuban people and government, their rejection of the genocidal US blockade and its inclusion of Cuba on the list of alleged state sponsors of terrorism, as well as their unwavering will to continue educating the Canadian population about our country and the human work of the Revolution.
Among the participants there were members of the Juan Gualberto Gomez Association of Cubans and other Cuban residents, leaders and members of the Canadian Cuba Solidarity Network, Cuba Canada Friendship Association (CCFA-Toronto), Toronto Forum on Cuba, the two Communist Parties of Canada, the president of the Toronto Palestine House, the Bolivarian Circle “Louis Riel”, the Young Communist League - Toronto, coordinators of the Ernesto Che Guevara Volunteer Work Brigade, and personalities of the cultural sector.
