First Deputy Minister of Justice presents the "Friendship Medal" to Austrian friend of solidarity, Hermann Pernerstorfer
Vienna, May 25, 2023 - The First Deputy Minister of Justice, Rosabel Gamón Verde, presented the "Friendship Medal" to the Austrian friend of solidarity, Hermann Pernerstorfer, in a simple but moving ceremony that brought together members of the board of directors of the Austria-Cuba Friendship Association (ÖKG) and the Cuban Embassy in Austria.
Signed by the President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, Presidential Decree 569, dated February 17, 2023, states that the President of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples proposed to award the Medal in recognition of his support and backing for the strengthening and deepening of ties with our people, based on brotherhood, solidarity and cooperation, as well as for his outstanding participation in campaigns in defense of the Revolution and denunciation of the aggressions against Cuba, especially those related to the condemnation of the unjust economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States against Cuba.
Upon receiving the Medal, the friend Hermann, Secretary General of the ÖKG, expressed his great joy and honor for having received this recognition for the work of solidarity that for more than two decades he has dedicated with all his effort and capacity. He also reiterated that he will continue to work in this direction as long as he has the necessary strength.
Decree-Law 30, of December 10, 1979, created the "Friendship" Medal, which is awarded to citizens, organizations or institutions, Cuban or foreign, who individually or collectively stand out for their activity aimed at achieving the construction of a more just society and for strengthening the bonds of fraternal friendship, cooperation and mutual aid among peoples.
