Foreign Ministers of Vietnam and Cuba hold telephone conversation

Vietnam and Cuba highlighted the excellent level of bilateral ties in a telephone conversation held on March 16 by their respective Foreign Ministers, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla and Pham Binh Minh.

Both representatives praised the high level of political relations, comprehensive cooperation and the exchange of experiences in buiding Socialism as a contribution to the two countries´ socioeconomic development.

Rodríguez Parrilla congratulated his counterpart on the results of the XIII National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, held between January 25 and February 1st, 2021.

When reviewing the most recent bilateral milestones, the ministers recalled the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations, the celebration of the 38th Intergovernmental Commission and the VI Round of Vietnam-Cuba Political Consultations, which took place recently in virtual format.

Regarding multilateral sphere, they highlighted the adhesion of Cuba to the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations in 2020, when the Indochinese country served as rotating president of the organization.

The also Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam reiterated his country's support for the cause of the Cuban people against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on the island for almost six decades.
