Friendly meeting of Cuban diplomats with Liberian journalists and communicators.

Officials of the Cuban diplomatic mission in Liberia, Chargé d'Affaires Yordenis Despaigne Vera and Second Secretary Carmen Maury Toledo cordially welcomed several representatives of the Liberian press at the headquarters of the Cuban Embassy. The main purpose of the event was to celebrate Cuban Press Day, which took place last March 14, and to diversify Cuba 's ties with the society in that West African country.

The guests, including Kenneth Best, director of the Daily Observer newspaper and one of the most important journalism figures in Liberia, expressed motivation to learn about Cuba, its contemporary reality and its ties to the African continent. They also inquired about the history of the island, its struggles for independence, its geographical and social characteristics, the economic, commercial and financial blockade against our country by the government of the United States and the leadership of Fidel Castro.

As part of the lively debate should be mentioned the intervention of the graduate in Cuba Kesselee King Kanneh, graduated in Physical Culture and vice-president of the Liberia-Cuba Friendship Association. Kanneh recalled his many encounters with the Commander, the preparation received and, above all, the commitment as a professional that he learned in the Greater Antilles, experiences that he treasures of his student days in a country he considers "his second homeland."
