Friends of Cuba and Cuban residents in Canada organized July 26th celebrations in Canada

Several initiatives and days of celebration were organized in Canada by friends of Cuba and Cuban residents to celebrate the 72nd anniversary of the assaults on the Moncada and Carlos M. de Céspedes Barracks.

From Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal, to Manitoba and British Columbia; there were various activities that included Cuban music and food, expressions of solidarity and support to the Cuban people in the face of the continuous aggressions and blockade of the United States; and messages in remembrance of the heroic deed of July 26, 1953.

Among the numerous activities, the webinar organized by the Canadian Network on Cuba (CNC) stood out. Speeches were made by Fernando González Llort, Hero of the Republic of Cuba and President of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples; Carlos Fernandez de Cossio, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs; Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz, Cuban Ambassador to Canada; Deborah Santana, member of the Cuba Solidarity Committee in Puerto Rico; and David Abdulah, intellectual from Trinidad and Tobago, member of the Cuba Solidarity Committee in Puerto Rico; David Abdulah, intellectual from Trinidad and Tobago and leader of the Movement for Social Justice Party; Cheryl Labash, member of the US National Network on Cuba; Julio Fonseca, president of the Juan Gualberto Gómez Association of Cubans; and Samanta Hislop, member of the Executive Committee of the CNC.

During the webinar, the campaign “Medical Aid Against the Blockade” was launched, which aims to raise funds to send containers to Cuba with medical supplies as a donation. The campaign is promoted by the CNC and the ACR Juan Gualberto Gómez.
