New Delhi, August 13, 2017. The Committee of Solidarity with Cuba, in coordination with the Embassy of this country, organized in India an act to honor the leader of the Revolution Fidel Castro Ruz, on the occasion of the 91st anniversary of his birth .
In the emotional meeting, members of solidarity and the Communist Parties of India, recalled the struggle of the Cuban people under the guidance of Fidel and repudiated the permanence of the US blockade against the island.
Arun Kumar, Secretary for International Relations of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPIM), emphasized his altruistic spirit in cooperating with dozens of nations in the face of humanitarian crises such as the Ebola outbreak in African countries and the earthquakes in Pakistan and Nepal. At the same time, the General Secretary of the All-India Peace and Solidarity Organization (AIPSO), Sonya Gupta, highlighted the important achievements of revolutionary Cuba thanks to his leadership.
D. Raja, National Secretary of the CPI recalled his unique experience of listening to him live, in Havana in 1978, among a large crowd in the Revolution Square. He emphasized that Fidel's legacy will not only remain among Cubans, but also among all the revolutionaries of the world.
Ambassador Oscar Martínez, referring to the Commander, expressed his indissoluble bond with Cuba and the entire historical process of the last 60 years. He also stressed his spirit of solidarity, internationalism and humanism, which will remain in the new generations of Cubans as a commitment to their ideas, their struggle and their thinking.
Indian university students present there were part of the tribute with the interpretation of the famous songs “Y en eso llegó Fidel”, "Hasta siempre comandante" and "La Guantanamera".
Ambassadors and diplomats from Vietnam, Laos, Bolivia, Venezuela, and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea also attend the gathering. (Embacuba India).
