Graduates in Cuba and Liberian youth organizations pay tribute to the Commander Fidel Castro Ruz

Monrovia, August 20, 2018-, On Saturday, August 18, there was a long day of celebration of the life and legacy of the Commander in Chief of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz. Conceived and organized by the Liberian graduates with Cuba, with the support of the Cuban diplomatic headquarters, the activity was attended by members of several youth organizations, representatives of the Liberian Foreign Ministry and other friends of Cuba. On behalf of Cuba, the Chargé d'Affaires, Yordenis Despaigne Vera and the Second Secretary, Carmen Maury Toledo, participated.

As part of the commemoration several speakers, representing their organizations, highlighted the revolutionary trajectory and the internationalist work of the undisputed leader of the Cuban Revolution. They referred to the achievements of the Greater Antilles under his leadership, as well as his permanent commitment to the most disadvantaged nations and tireless battle against social injustices.

They also underlined Fidel's humanism and solidarity, which have become palpable in the actions of the Cuban government in events such as the emancipation struggles in Africa, the training of professionals and the presence of collaborators in the so-called "black continent", especially during the deadly Ebola outbreak in several West African nations, including Liberia.

For his part, the head of Cuban mission, thanked the words of recognition to the Commander and the willingness of the organizations to strengthen ties with the Caribbean island. After making reference to the results and scope of the Latin American School of Medicine, whose creation was conceived by Fidel, officially delivered to the representative of the International Cooperation Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Liberia, the documentation that accredits young Jackie King and Breakthrough Praise Dixon as Medicine Scholars for the 2018-2019 academic year.
