Vienna, April 30, 2026.—The Cuban Ambassador to Austria, Pablo Berti Oliva, met for a friendly discussion with City Councilor Peter Kraus, State Chair of the Green Party and member of the Vienna State Government, as well as with Jaafar Bambouk, a member of the Vienna State Parliament and City Council, at the Green Party’s office in Vienna City Hall.
Ambassador Berti Oliva briefed representatives of the Vienna Green Party on the tightening of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba, which stems from the executive order issued at the beginning of the year. Among other things, this provides for a complete blockade of fuel supplies to the island, which further exacerbates the difficult living conditions of the Cuban people and affects every aspect of national life.
During the meeting, both sides discussed issues of mutual interest, with a particular focus on climate policy and the fight for environmental protection; both sides agreed that measures to address global environmental challenges are urgently needed.
The exchange took place in an atmosphere of mutual respect and a willingness to further deepen bilateral dialogue. Ms. Lisset González, First Secretary for Bilateral Affairs, accompanied the Ambassador to this meeting.
