High-level representatives of the Member States will meet in the "Ministerial Drug Segment", which will take place in Vienna on March 14 and 15

The United Nations headquarters in Vienna is preparing to host, on March 14 and 15, the "Ministerial Segment of the Sixty-Second Session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs".

The ministerial meeting will aim to take stock of the implementation of all the commitments made by the international community in the previous decade to address and counteract the World Drug Problem.

During the opening session of the Segment, the Ministers and other representatives of the Member States will adopt a Ministerial Declaration with the objective of reaffirming the intergovernmental commitment, the political will and the importance of international cooperation in the fight against this scourge.

The ministerial-level segment will be open to the participation of all States Members of the United Nations, representatives of intergovernmental organizations and the international scientific community. To date, more than thirty government representatives at the ministerial level have already confirmed their participation.

President Evo Morales Ayma, President of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, has confirmed his attendance and will be one of the highest-level representatives to attend this ministerial meeting.

Other countries in Latin America and the Caribbean have confirmed their participation at the ministerial level, such as the delegations of Cuba, Peru, Colombia, Jamaica, Ecuador, Uruguay, Guatemala and Panama.

All this reaffirms the commitment and political will of the States of the region in addressing the World Drug Problem from a multilateral perspective, and under the principle of common and shared responsibility, without underestimating national and regional efforts to face all the aspects of the social phenomenon of drugs.
