Addis Ababa, May 19, 2023. The Hispanic embassies accredited in this city celebrated the Day of the Spanish Language in the Abrehot Library, the largest in the country and flagship of Africa. The Hispanic missions recognized the influence of the Spanish language in the world and the contribution of the great Spanish-language writers.
The Ambassador of Spain, Mr. Manuel Salazar Palma, in his central words, highlighted the coincidence of the date in the life and work of several Hispanic writers, highlighting especially our National Hero, José Martí, on the 128th anniversary of his fall in combat, of whom he highlighted his poetic work by reciting some fragments of his simple verses.
In turn, the Ambassador of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, Mr. Néstor A. Rosa Navarro, recognized Cuba's contribution to the dissemination of the Spanish language in Ethiopia when he alleged that the more than five thousand Ethiopian graduates on the Caribbean island make up the largest Spanish-speaking community in the country.
