Addis Ababa. The second anniversary of the passing of the Commander in Chief of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, was conmemorated in a special tribute at the Embassy of Cuba in Ethiopia.
In attendance, all the Cubans cooperants working in the capital, Cubans living in Ethiopia as well as a large group of the Ethio-Cubans.
Amb. Angel Villa, Chargé d´Affairs of the Embassy of Cuba in Ethiopia transmitted a message where he acknowledged the improtance of the legacy of Fidel for the present and future generations and his contributions to the African struggles against colonialism, racism, apartheid and to preserve the sovereignty of some nations. Ambassador Villa highlighted the historic coincidence on November 25 becose that vary same day but in 1977, Fidel signed the order to start "Operation Baraguá" in support to the Ethiopian fight against the Somali invasion.
A documentary "Anecdotes about Fidel " of Mrs. Estela Bravo was screened and the songs "Cuba que linda es Cuba" by La Colmenita and "Cabalgando con Fidel" of Raúl Torres.
A wreath of white flowers was placed besides the photo of Fidel on behalf of all the Cubans working in Ethiopia.
