HOMAGE TO PROF. OJITO

Addis Ababa, April 25, 2020.   Saturday afternoon brought the sad news of the passing in this capital of Eduardo Ojito who worked as professor at the University of Addis Ababa. He was linked to biotechnology projects associated to the development of the sugar cane industry.

He was a very well-known face within the Cuban community residing in Ethiopia and forged friendship ties with the Cuban cooperants and diplomats as well as the large Ethio-Cubans groups.  His jovial personality was accompanied by a his extensive scientific knowledge was shared with pupils, colleagues and friends  without vanity. His hoarse voice as a result of his age and ailments was raised in many occasions during gatherings organized by the Embassy of Cuba or the Friendship Associations.

That man was every inch an enthusiast Cuban native who felt very proud of the Cuban schools that forged him as professional.

We will no longer see him physically accompanied by his beloved widow, the ever-present and protective Ababa (flower in Amharic language). Our homage to prof Ojito will keep alive his teachings among us.

The most heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.
