The Humanistic Association of Solidarity Santa Lucia- Cuba issues a note of welcome and gratitude to the Cuban Medical Brigade Henry Reeve that arrived in Saint Lucia

HSA WELCOME NOTE AND GRATITUDE TO CUBAN MEDICAL BRIGADE TO SAINT LUCIA

The Humanistic Solidarity Association (Saint Lucia – Cuba), wishes to formally welcome our Cuban Brothers and Sisters to Saint Lucia to assist in the fight against COVID-19. We hope that your stay in Saint Lucia has been a pleasant one thus far.

Your arrival to Saint Lucia on Friday, March 27, 2020 does not only represent support to Saint Lucia during this pandemic war, but also represents the solidarity, collaboration and the deep bonds of   friendship which have existed between Cuba and Saint Lucia in excess of 40 years. You have made the sacrifice to leave your country and families at a time when the world is experiencing unprecedented challenges and the sudden death of so many thousands of people as a result of COVID-19.

Your humanitarian act at this time of fear and uncertainty continues to serve as an example to the world, as Cuban medical professionals reach out to countries needing their assistance in the fight towards mitigating the spread of COVID-19. Our Association would like to record its profound appreciation and gratitude to your brigade of medical doctors and nurses, who will serve as frontline medical professionals at our various hospitals and health institutions.

I also take this opportunity to extend our gratitude to Dr Jose Lopez, who recently ended his four (4) year mission in Saint Lucia with honour, but whom, once again, has returned to Saint Lucia, only after two weeks arrival in Cuba.

Our dear friends, notwithstanding your presence in Saint Lucia at this difficult time of sadness and uncertainty, we hope your mission will be a very successful and pleasant experience. We also hope that you will experience the friendliness of our people and the opportunity to visit some of our major places of interest before returning to Cuba. In this regard, our Association stands ready to lend our support whenever the need arises and we look forward to meeting with the group at an appropriate time.

Once again, on behalf of the Humanistic Solidarity Association, I extend our deepest gratitude to all members of the Cuban  Brigade in Saint Lucia, the Government and people of Cuba, and to Ambassador Alejandro Simancas Marin and his wife Lourdes Aguilera Leon, for the tremendous support being extended to the Government and People of Saint Lucia.
